Overview of Microlab T1 headphones
17/11/2015

Buyer is association with Microlab brand is quite obvious and guessable. This is not surprising, as this brand has become one of the leading manufacturers of high quality and reliable multimedia acoustics for PC in the mid-2000s.

Who would have thought that the manufacturer that presented a legendary series of Solo or Pro acoustics will also make the headphones too. Little miracles really happen, but this device can also be called a natural evolutionary spiral of the company engaged in manufacturing of audio equipment.

Microlab T1 – short and concise. In fact, these wireless headphones are one of the first company products. But the first fry was not bound to be a flop.

The range includes five different colors: classic strict versions, and custom and bright modifications.

The box, which contains Microlab T1 and all related wires with documentation thereto, matches the size of premium products. Matte surface, thick cardboard, magnetic cover and beautiful layout. These details would not be worth mentioning, but using these little subtleties Microlab wants to draw attention of the spoiled lover of the portable audio.
Microlab T1 is a wireless headset (also available built-in microphone for calls) with support of Bluetooth 4.0 interface (RF range 10 m), and usual white wires required for charging from USB, as well as for connecting to signal sources via classic 3.5 mm connector.

Microlab T1 headphones are made of glossy plastic, but all interconnects are strengthened not only with metal inserts but mounting screws. Headphones do not look like a cheap Chinese fake, but to the contrary: they have the most attractive appearance. Leather ear cushions, as well as the rim of the headband, do not squeeze the head, and the headphones fit like a glove.

It is important that the design of the body is minimalistic and ergonomic, and that is why Microlab T1 do not look poor both lying on the table, and being on the head.

On one of Microlab T1 headphones there is an input for jack, on the other - micro-USB, communication buttons (do not work in wired connection): volume control, switching tracks and play/pause (it is also Bluetooth-connection activator; you must hold the key until the light indication appears when connected to smartphone or player).

Setting Microlab T1 is very simple and convenient. The headphones worked well both via wired channel, and via wireless connection with all test devices, including smartphones iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, as well as the player Sony Walkman NWZ-A15.

Specifications stated for Microlab T1 are as follows: signal/ noise ratio - 85 dB, frequency band - 60-20,000 Hz (and it was this figure that we have paid attention to, even before switching the headset), working time on built-in battery is about 10 hours in playback mode, and it seems to be true.

In Russia, Microlab T1 will appear in the near future, so adequacy of the price in relation to the quality of the sound cannot say anything particular. However, the cost of the headphones in the USA is already known, where they can be purchased for $ 70.
And now what is the most important. The volume level of Microlab T1 is very large, as well as the sound insulation thanks to the leather ear cushions. We believe that in wireless mode the headphones sound even louder than in a wired mode, but perhaps this is due to specificity of the file format being played.

Target user of Microlab T1 is a fan of electronic, pop and dance music, as the instrumental compositions, rock, and all the heavy music with overloaded guitars and lush drums sound very dull. Details are not heard, and accents are not clear.
Low frequencies are heard the best and sometimes they bore after ten minutes of listening (especially if there is no support for the equalizer on the playback device). And the situation does not change when using the tracks in FLAC, MP3 format, etc.

So that is why - only synthetic, pop and electronic tracks. Digital sound is the best on Microlab T1. Clear, sharp and specific sound that is not boring and not jarring to the ear.

There is an opinion that pumping and heating of all the speakers is very necessary, including headphones for greater softness and juiciness - it is likely that this is so. But this would require a lot of time, at least several months. However, Microlab T1 is still a product of a different level, the multimedia one.

Some of the debut headphones of Microlab were quite successful. The sound needs to be worked out when designing future models, but visually and in terms of performance and quality of the parts used, Microlab T1 can spot more expensive models from renowned German and Japanese brands.
